I take my pop up 4-wheeling with me at times, so I want it to be level with my rover..that takes about 7" or so lift. but if I can I was going to take an axle off of a 1/2 ton pick up and mount it under the PU.... that allows larger tires(roughly 31 x 10.5) and then I only need to lift the suspension by welded mounts( I don't like blocks) about 3"     any thoughts or suggestions?

I have  read where people have lifted and put bigger tires on them.
In fact my brother lifted his camper last year and my dad did his last week. Both look good, but they didnt put bigger tires on them.

As for the axle,I dont think that would work.Aint the camper wider that a truck bed?

Mine is slightly lifted now...  My 65 dodge axle is wide enough and I was going to go wit offset rims to make it just a tad wider. It was a thought really  no definite if I will do it yet  I am looking into many ideas!

Our van has a 5" lift. We just did an axle flip on the PU. It made it perfectly level with the van.

I hear a lot about axle flips...what's involved in this and what's the cost?  Russ - if you don't mind sharing, what'd you pay and where'd you have the work done?

I don't mind at all. I had the work done at American Sales on Beach Blvd in Stanton, CA. They wanted $170 for parts and labor.

I was buying the unit and told them I'd only buy it if they threw the flip in for free. They said no way, so, I walked. The next day they called and said they'd do it for me.

Funrover, thanks. We had the van for 4 years now and, other than what it costs to fill it up, we love it. FYI: it has a 46 gallon tank.

Excellent - thanks Russ!!

We'll try it out the new unit a few times, and if we see the need for extra clearance, we'll give em a call....

I did it in my garage, took about 30 min.  I had the parts in my garage already. The job is really super simple!
