A DOG is a Dutch Oven Gathering...

PJay and I hosted a DOG Saturday when the campground where the DOG was supposed to happen was flooded out.

The following was also posted on the IDOS forum:

We had a great time.  I think next time we host a DOG, we might try to find a local park or something.  Nothing bad about the event, and cleanup is easier when you are already home, but the getting everything ready beforehand made everything else add up to a really long day.  But we're sure glad we did it!

Learned some things:

* We gotta get a DOG table!  PJay would have been doing prep on a picnic table, which would have been OK...as long as we remembered a cutting board.
* DO people love to eat.  Especially me.  And there's always lots of food.

We learned this morning that there were a couple of other parties on our block.  That would explain why so many people slowed and/or stopped to look...they were looking for a different party!  Sure hope they weren't disappointed when the food at their party wasn't as good.

There were foods there that, when I saw the ingredients, I didn't think I would like.  But I tried everything, and boy, that iron works wonders...there wasn't anything I would not have gone back for seconds on if I'd had the room.

We knew we would be taking a chance going down to Byron, MN for the DOG, and we also knew that all of the other attenders were taking a chance on us coming up here.  I trust nobody was dissapointed...I know I sure wasn't.

I thought it was ironic that this was a Minnesota DOG, and exactly one person - and not a DO'er but a guest - was born in Minnesota.  We had folks originally from New York, Massachusetts, North Carolina, I think Iowa and Illinois...the only person born in Minnesota was our son-in-law.
