Everything was fine when we hooked up the TT to head home. Checked blinkers and brakes. All ok.... when we were backing in, I noticed the driver side brade lights were not working.  Also found out the blinker was also out. Service department is back logged and can't tell us how long it will be before they get to us.  I'm wondering if anyone has any idea what this could be....I'm hoping it's a quick fix.... But, I doubt it. Quick fixes are never our luck......

It might not be that big of a deal. Here's a link to a trailer wiring diagram. Wiring diagram  Look it over to get a good idea what going on. If both the brake light and the signal light are out on the same side but everything else is working, especially the brake and signal lights on the other side, the most likely cause is a loose or bad ground connection. Check the wires coming from the light fixture and look for a white wire. It should go to a screw or a bolt connected to the trailer's frame someplace. That's most likely place for it to have problems. Look at this connection real closely for rust or corrosion. Take the connection apart and using a wire brush clean the area and the terminal. Put it back together and check your lights. Odds are they'll be working now. If so, spray the connection with some type of protectant and should be good to go.

Before doing anything else, swap the bulbs from one side to the other.  If the bulb is bad, the problem will switch between the driver's side and passenger side.

Always start with the cheapest thing to fix.

BTW, on trailers, the turn signal and brake lights are the same circuit & bulb.  So when the brakes come on, it is essentailly just activating both turn signal lamps.
