I like the grilled corn idea, plus some kind of cool salad (its hot down here!)

There's always Mac & Cheese or of course pork'n'beans that have been seasoned.

I don't know about a side dish, but I love to cut up some andouille (Italian sausage if you can't get andouille) and throw it on the grill first for snacking.

Plus there's chips and dip (velveeta, rotel, and pre-cooked ground meat in a crock pot).

Of course none of these have been approved yet by the American Heart Association...

PS Another Louisiana favorite is to boil the above mentioned red potatoes in   crab boil...

Frito Corn Salad- someone in our group introduced us to this. YUMM!!!! And super easy to make!
1 cup of mayo
1 can of yellow sweet corn
1 can of white corn
1 cup of finely shredded cheddar cheese

Mix above ingredients together and refrigerate until chilled- This can be an hour or 10 hrs. Right before your ready to serve take a reg. sized bag of Frito corn chips (my favorite) or Taco seasoned Frito corn chips and smash the chips inside. ( my daughter loves helping with this) Mix with chilled  ingredients and serve.

Here's an option that's become part of our BBQing, be it steaks, chicken or burgers:

Cut yams into thin wedge-staped fries.  1/8" or so thick works pretty good, but you can go thicker if you've got slow heat to cook 'em all the way through without burning the outside.

Pour some olive oil on a plate or shallow pan, dump the Yams in and run 'em around so they get coated both sides.

Season with your favorite seasoning. I like to use "Spice Hunter" vegetable seasoning.

Put them on the grill with your food.  They cook best if you have an upper rack, but if you can dial down the heat, you can cook 'em on the bottom too.

They're done when you have decent grill marks on both sides, but don't burn 'em.

Tasty and great for you!
