Does anyone know where to get the mounting rod for the LP tank?  I have been on a ton of websites and can't find it.  It's not the bottle rack kind, it's just the 18" rod with a hook at the top and a wing nut on the bottom.  HELP!

Go to Home Depot and get something that will fit. That's what I did a few months ago.

And I found the old one today.

That's what I thought about doing.  I was going to buy some threaded rod and use an emt pipe bender to bend it, but I was afraid that the rod would snap.  What did you use?

I think I used a washer and nut for both ends. Maybe wingnuts. Either would work.

Single tank...I have one of the rods but it is kind of unstable.  I have it strapped in with bungees right now.  Looks a little 'cheesy'.

So, you keep the rod straight?  What part of the tank do you attach it to?

The Gas Bottle mounting Bracket Package, part number: 4733G6281 is sold at your local Fleetwood Folding Trailer Dealer's Parts Department, it includes two rods, two washers, and two wing nuts.  The package typically retails for $8 to $15.

I guess we are talking about two different things. I use a threaded rod that goes through the popup's tank "frame", and also through two holes on the bottom of the propane tank. Put nuts/washers on the ends and it stays in place.

If I'm not mistaken, you are talking about a piece that is hooked to go over the TOP of the tank, like at its handle.

Thanks, I'll try to find a dealer.  I got my trailer used.  Thanks for the info.

I have two tanks, mounted side-by side like brainpause's - but the threaded pieces were badly bent and rusted when I got the camper.  so I replaced the threaded rods with 4 PTO pins @ $1.49 for two in a bag at Farm & Fleet.

they work great, hook up much faster, and no nuts to loose.

I also used the same pins for my adjustable bike / canoe rack.  I love the things - they are zink plated, non- rusting, they lock, and no small parts to lose in the grass.

I'm tellin' you - when it comes to stuff for camper mods - you just can't beat a good 'farm' store!

Where do you hook it?  On the bottom to the shelf or the top to the other tank?

campnagle

I had those "J" hooks for propane tank on my Utah and thought they sucked. I bought a basket type from a viking dealership and it works much better. You dont have to go under hitch to unsrew that wing nut.
