Our next trip is to National Park Retreats in Estes Park CO. By way or Royal Gorge.

Welcome all input prior to our trip in June.

We will be around Estes Park in mid June. Other than being in a beautiful place already are there any local attractions we should not miss? Any recommended restaurants we should try?
We cook 95% of the time, but are always up for a good home cooked meal.

Any fishing in the area?

Tks

Plenty of fishing in the area.  Plan on trout in the streams and lakes unless you move east away from the hills.  Since you are in Estes, you might as well check out trail ridge road that heads west into the mountains.  Plenty of public campgrounds and scenic roads west of the front range as long as you don't mind boondocking.  Pick up the Colorado Gazetteer   to find all the neat back roads and campgrounds.

I agree, there is good fishing. A trip to Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park is always worth it also. Since you are in Estas tour the Stanly hotel (hotel from the movie "The Shinning") it's a cool place. Also bring your bikes to ride some o the trails in the area!

Yes the Stanley was great.

We also climbed the "Twin Sisters" mtn and "Deer" mtn. Both had nice paths, but these flatlanders had to go a little slow. Twin Sisters is 12000 ft el. I think.

At 55 yo just making it to the top convinced me to postpone my scheduled stress test until next year.
