I wasn't there Wave, but I would imagine mine would have looked like this...

Brings back memories. ;)

I had a 58 Ford that turned the quarter in under 12sec.
Not bad for a factory stock.

My father had one of these in blue...the rear window worked, but we could never get him to use it.  :(  I think he had the 2-door version.

It was a 1966, and would lay 150 feet of rubber (probably more, but he always chickened out on our short street) with all six of us in the car.  Can you identify it without chasing the image URL?  It was also available as a conventional hardtop (without the reverse slant rear window) and as a convertible.

I think it was his mid-life crisis car.

How about old cars and pop ups. I go to the back to the fiftys every year in st paul, we have friends from out of state that stay at the fair grounds for the weekend.

When they arrive they are staged in the north lot before they can get in to their site, it is fun to walk around and see all of the pop ups behind the old cars.

last year i talked to a coulple that was from texas they had a 38 ford with an early 70's starcraft. The husband said that they travel all over the u.s going to car show with this starcraft that they bought new.

Thanks for the memories.  I especially liked the last page with A&W and drive-in movie.

My hottest car was a 64 Pontiac Tempest with positraction, 326, two-door coupe and padded dash.  The padded dash was an option.  Couldn't afford the GTO.  Got rubber in all three gears.

Also owned a 50 Mercury and a 52 Studebaker.  First car was a used 1950 Buick Speical, stick shirt with a straight 8.  Bought it used for $50 in 1957.

The lines and roof is classic Mercury. but I cannot place the model!   I think my high school buddy had one, too!  Engines were 390-2bbl, 410 & 428 - 4bbl

Mercury Park Lane (or it might have been Parklane).  Most Park Lanes were convertibles.  Of the hardtops, most of them did not have the reverse-slant electric rear window.  My Dad's was the only one I ever remember seeing.  It took me a half hour to find that photo, I waded through a lot of Park Lane photos to find it and it was the only one I found.

Wow - so much difference the roof makes in identifying.  Quite a car.

My BF still has the '69 2 dr Chevelle he bought used in '75 or so.... it's his baby.  He's 5 yr's older than me - I would have only been 15 then, but he wouldhave been 20 or so. It's not running at the moment, but sometime I'll get a picture of it and post it. It's faded & could use some fresh paint, but it's rust-free and in great shape otherwise!
