We are planning to see the Dead Sea Scrolls Exhibit at the San Diego Natural History Museum during our Veteran's Day Campland rally, Nov 9-12. If anyone else would like to attend, we could get a group rate (10 or more adults) which is $24.00ea. and save $4.00 per ticket.  There no discount for children ages 3-12. The child's ticket is $15.00.  The tickets are issued for a specific date and time, so we would have to go at the same time. Let me know if you have a preference for Saturday or Sunday.

This is a rare event and really worth seeing. Here's the link to the site for more info:  http://www.sdnhm.org/scrolls/index.html

Once i get a feel for who's interested and which day, I'll contact the museum for more info.
 Thanks,

We'd love to go!  If Monday is the Veteran's holiday, I'd be up for Sunday.  It might be less crowded than Saturday.

well undecided. I think it would be cool to go with the group. I got a definate maybe outta Kevin tha'd he'd dig it

Dan doesn't want to spend the money. we will be in SD the weekend before and he gets stuck with holidays w/o pay he has to take off from then until the end of the year.

as far as a day I would say Sunday. Dan & Kevin won't be there until Saturday Nite as Kevin has a band competition

I've stickied this so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle :S

AWESOME idea Karen!  But....we'll have to pass - too much $$ for all of our family and I'd be the only one happy to be there.  (Dan and the kidsa are soooooo uncultured! ha!)  Be sure and tour the whole museum when you're there - it's really cool - we were there in June.

Too much $$ for us, too, right now.  But, it sounds so very cool!!!  Bran and I would enjoy it, even Logann...but not our little ginger girl.  We might be hitting the SD Zoo that day, anyway (we have season passes).

Dave and I have already seen the first 12 scrolls it was totally awsome...but it is a lot of reading and listening to tapes.  Plan on spending about 31/2 hours inside the museum...My new son-in-law works there.  November is going to be the second set of 12 scrolls.  I think you should be careful of the age of children, I think young ones would be bored.  I wouldn't take my grandkids, I know they wouldn't understand it all..and its dark and not a hands on thing.  But even my husband that didn't think he would like it...really enjoyed this. We are going to see the next set of scrolls that will be there starting in October.

Hey Karen and Wes,

Don't know if you are still planning on going to this exhibit, but I think we're going to take a pass. Last year, the kids went to a battleship or aircraft carrier down at the Navy base in San Diego while I stayed back at the camper and worked. This year, Griffin is very excited to go back and show me all the things I missed last year. As much as I'd really love to see the Dead Sea Scrolls, when viewed through the eyes of a six-year-old boy, battleships always win out over old pieces of paper under glass. :)

Sunday would be a great time to go..all the international house are open from 12:00 TO 5:00.  Dave and I have already seen the first set of scrolls and I would like to see the second set also..My son-in-law works there, but he can't get a discount on weekend days..It took us about 3 hours to go through them.  so when you schedule leave time to see all the internatnion house also...There are many of them...They are right outside of the Natural history Mueseum where the scrolls are..This set of scrolls have the 10 comandments written in them.  I don't think Griffin would enjoy or most young children, the scrolls,  either.  We can get tickets at the door also.

I want to play this by ear...Don't want to commit to anything this weekend.  We may go some other time when we can get a discount.  We may go see the internationl houses on Sunday.
