I would be interested in hearing about your stays in BLM managed cg's, especially here in AZ. I was looking on the website and some of them look pretty nice. For $5 a night the price is right too.

What are BLM managed cg's?

I was on BLM website and it listed cg's that they operate. I have been to SP's here in AZ and have found them to be fantastic. I was wondering how BLM managed cg's stacked up.

Gary,
I just looked through the AZ BLM site briefly (in between periods of the hockey game) and I am still scratching my head :eyecrazy:
Is the BLM somehow related to the NFS? when it comes to campgrounds and the likes. I know there are a lot of dispersed(sp?) camping  sites in the Bradshaw Mountains South of Prescott, in the Prescott National Forest, but is that also BLM Land?
AAHhh, who cares, as long as we can camp. :D
Back to the game.

From what I know, the Bureau of Land Management is in charge of managing all kinds of Federal land.  Where NFS operates only in areas designated National Forest.  I'm guessing that a CG comes under the BLM only if it is on federal public land but not within a National Forest or a National Park.  I know when I work for Indian Health Service, the BLM was involved with a lot of the land management on the reservation.  That was quite a few years ago, and I wouldn't be surprised to learn that is no longer the case.
