A co-workers daughter had an interesting conversation while in collage. A visiting professor from Whales asked her if she would give her a ride to a local grade school. She had driven here but kept wanting to move over the other side of the road. I guess old habits are hard to break. On the way to the school the professor said something like: I don't know how to ask this but are you OK. My co-workers daughter said yes why do you ask? The professor said that the only people in England who drive automatics are the handicapped.

Other than the higher tow rating of the auto and the mushy feeling of the hydraulic clutch in the manual. This got me thinking does driving an automatic make me lazy?

Hey, don't get me wrong, aw738, love manual transmission cars and until we purchased our Audi A6 Quattro Avant, I would have never thought I'd be seen owning a wagon or an automatic.

But for everything I do with the Suburban, and it predates our Audi purchase by 2 years, I wouldn't have it any other way.

Quote from: utahskierdaveaustin - I went to an auto vs. manual conversation on toyotanation.com - they seemed evenly split with plenty of passionate opinions for both.  The consensus boils down to this:  pick the transmission you like the best, while this site seems to lean towards automatics for your TV.
Waygard, your truck is way cool, it's exactly what I hope to purchase - right down to the color.  have you towed in 100+ heat? How'd it do? Do you think I can get away w/o a weight distributing hitch for my Carmel? It weighs around 2800lbs fully loaded...

Hi Dave,
I haven't pulled in 100+ heat...not yet anyway. We don't get too many of those in the northwest but I'm sure it will happen.

As for the lighter trailier, I think I would still recommend the WD hitch. I also pull a quad trailer that tops out at about 2000# and it does pull my rear end down a bit. I think my toungue weight is probably heavier than your pup's so you might be OK. You can always try it and upgrade as needed.

Good luck. Post some picks when you get your truck.
