we went to look at a campground that we always camp at this past weekend just to see the water level. ( which was VERY VERY low) while we were there we decided to make reservation for this weekend and we were told that we could no longer use our tent shower for ANY reason. Granted we only use it for our port potti. Said that they have a new rule that no Army Cor park is allowing you to have these for any reason. Just wondering if anyone has heard about this. We are in GA so I dont know  if this applies else where.

I haven't hesomard of anything like that - but have to admit that most of the state parks and forests we camp in (Wisconsin & Illinois) have decent shower houses and I haven't seen people use those shower tents.  (not for showers, anyway)

Are they not letting you put it up at all? or is it because of the water use on the campsite?  I can imagine that if everyone set up a 'shower' at their campsite it could cause harder use of the site - mud, erosion and general mess.  Did you ask if you could set it up for your porta potti only?

Our old PUP doesn't have a built-in porta potti,(or shower) and I never missed it, either - until we had a campout where it POURED one night for about 10 straight hours.  Didn't bother me - I love the sound of rain on canvas, and have a bladder trained by many years at Girl scout camp with dark, spidery pit toilets.  I slept like a log.

But Paul, (my SO) doesn't have my strenuous 'Scout' conditioning, and the sound of all that running water had him awake most of the night waiting for the lull in the rain that never came. I finally told him (at 3 am) to just aim out the front door - the campsite was all sand, and the rain would wash anything away by morning.

So from now on, we will be taking our bucket potti and shower tent with us, too.  If only for emergency use!

yes I did ask if we could use it for the port potti and they said for no reason at all..... all we use it for is that reason for the kids late at night. said that if they let us use it for that reason others would assume that it was for shower. also was told the fine would be $50 thats high!!! we just bought a big new one this past week but i returned it yesterday so that we wouldnt even think about doing it!  : )

Corps of Engineer C/G's do have lots of "rules", afterall, that is the ARMY Corps of Engineers!(LOL)

Some make sense, others ... well, they just like their rules.

The shower tent is good for some those remote National Forest C/G's that the only facilities there would be a vault toilet. A lot of other NFS C/G's have flush toilets and hot showers and they are usually pretty good facilities. I keep a pair of shower flip-flops stowed away in my PU for those communal showers to prevent a good case of athlete's foot getting started!

Well, if all you are using it for it a potty, why not get a small tent and put it in there. . . . .

Very good advise Pam, that's what I would do, I'd buy a very cheap little dome tent tall enough to have head clearance while sitting.
