Sites with sewer, when we don't need it...

Our camper doesn't have a porta pottie, shower, etc....No black water tank here...

I was wondering....If we have a site with a sewer connection, can I run a hose from our grey water drain into the sewer?  I'm tired of lugging the tank to a dump station whenever the tote gets full....

I didn't know if you could just put the hose down there or what...

What's the deal?  Looking for some insight...

I've run mine straight into the sewer connection on occasion when it was in the right spot.  More often, I've used the sewer connection to dump the gray water from the holding tank.

Yes, you can....

Most campgrounds do ask that you use a donut at the sewer connection, and many of the sewer hose assemblies have a knock-out tit for attaching say a garden hose at the elbow going into the sewer, in addition to the standard sewer hose.

The concern being sewer gas, but you could run a drain line from your greywater drain to the sewer.

A Camco Easy Slip Grey Water Adapter , and a Foam Donut are all you need.  You might get by just sticking your grey hose down the sewer.  However, that sewer gas is nasty sometimes, so the hardware makes a seal.

thanks beacher from saving me some work. Those items you have posted a link for are a must in my book..There is nothing worse that having sewer gases wofting across your campsite...unfortunately for the boys at the campfire (you know who you are ) you won't have anything to blame it on... :J

I use the adapter with my garden hose to connect to the sewer.  You don't have to worry about sewer gas backing up through your garden hose because water lays in the line and will block the gas.  If you don't want to get the adapter and donut, at least stuff a rag around your hose to help keep the sewer gas in the pipe.
