I have to say, even with some snow still on the ground, the nights down in the low 20's and days at a nice cool maybe 50 degrees, we loved it.

The registrars were very pleasant, informative and patient.  The sites were as clean as could be considering there was still quite a bit of snow on the ground, and it was quiet and well worth our $30. a night.

Trailer Village is right on the "blue route" shuttle, love those guys too.  I can't tell you how much fun we had out there, I did take some really good pics, but my ummmm, blonde was showing.. lol.  My frames were set at small, so my pictures, while clear and quite small.  I'm so upset with myself, because we did get some awesome pics of the canyon... guess that means we'll have to go again next March for hubby's b-day.. hehehe.

Gary, I know you've been eagerly awaiting this review, any questions, feel free to ask!!!  They do have a grocery store within walking distance, and the prices are comparable to phx grocers.  So if you forget milk, bread or butter never fear!  You won't be paying $10. for half a pound of butter.  They do have a lot of residents that live and shop there, so like I said, the prices aren't bad at all.  Enjoy!!

It sounds as though you had a great time. It's nice to hear that you enjoyed the cg. We will be there basically to eat and sleep so I don't need the cg to be that scenic or anything. Nice to hear about the grocery store. With four kids we go through a lot of milk! Knowing me we will forget to bring something anyway and will need to buy it up there.

I'm guessing that your heater worked well enough for you with temps that cold. Our first night there will be May 31st so we can expect warmer temps.

Thanks for the review and glad you had a good time.

Gary,

Our heat was set at 70 degrees both nights, and did well, we still have about 20 lbs of propane left (we had a total of 40 lbs)

Enjoy the sites, the buses are actually really good too, for those small breaks you'll want to take after all the walking!

If you get the chance, and have the ability, hook up to the cable they have, they have a channel (4 I believe) that is all about the Grand Canyon and all the fun things you can do while there.  There is also a Jr. Ranger program for the kids as well, located at both bookstores, and ranger headquarters, which is located at parking lot A.

Enjoy, and drink lots of water!!!

Gary, the other post about propane reminded me.

Top off your TV in Flagstaff, or if you forget, do it at the first station on highway 64, if you fill up in Tuysan, it's expensive!  I paid $3.499 a gallon up there, and down by the 40 it was only $3.399, only a dime I know, but dimes add up when you have 4 kids!  HTH

Last August, we stayed in Mather camp ground, right next door, and found it to be the same; clean, great/clean bathrooms and showers, and the Rangers were extremely nice.

We're hoping to go back again later this year.

Our kids get out May 26th (or somewhere around there) so we can get a jump on the out of staters.  :D
