Buying a new Fleetwood

We were thinking of moving up from our 05 Fleetwood Colonial to an 08 Fleetwood Utah, then we heard about this sell-off thing  :yikes: . We realy like our Fleetwood and have had very few problems (slide wedges and the wrinkled ceiling), we just want a little more room.
I went to the dealer and asked them about the future of the line. He said that they were a Coleman dealer and went through the Fleetwood change and they say this will just be another change. They will carry these campers whatever name is on them and don't see any problem with warranty.
So what do you guys think, is this a bad time to buy a Fleetwood, should we look at another make, or should we make do with what we have for a while?

Thanks

Make the deal. I am quite sure that whoever p/u that division will continue with the warranty on past/new warranty work. There is a reputation that would be on the line if they did not do just that. Heck you may even use the sale as a bargining chip for a better price. With the times the way it is now dealers are making decent deals. If you wait until the end of the month that helps as well. They need to meet their sales. Even better is to wait till the end of a quarter, they really make deals then :-()  The same goes towards auto dealers too.

Unless the dealership went out of business with the change over, you'd probably still be safe about getting the work done, if they are a reputable dealer.  I'd say go for it.

I'd make the deal - don't see how the sale of the folding camper division will affect the product being sold/warranty.

Wasn't it American Motors who sold their "Jeep" line to Chrysler.....?

I hope that you got that in writing ;) .....

Holes in screens, dents & scratches are not manufacturer warranty issues. They are dealer delivery issues. If you take the camper to another dealer, they will tell you to take it back to where you took delivery.

If the sales person that you bought it from is gone or doesn't "Remember", you may have a problem.

Buy the camper.  If you like the camper get it.  Dealership, manufacturer, etc. none of it matters that much.  Buy the camper and go camping.  Fleetwood will sell that division to someone who will still make the same campers, and will honor the warranties.  Which you will probably never use anyway.  Don't sweat it.

Thanks for all your input guys, now on to other questions like, screen room or add-a-room, or just a stand alone screen room. We have a lot to think about.

Thanks

We haven't lived in FL since the late 80's, but if it hasn't changed much, I'd say one screen room inside another screen room and a squirt gun full of insecticide :)

The first owners of our pup used the awning all the time but never put up the screen room attachment.  They also qualified that with "but this is Colorado, if we had ever used it back east, we probably would have all the time."  I'd say, it would depend on how many folks you have with you most of the time whether a regular awning attached screen room or one of those big separate screen rooms would be necessary.

From what I read here on PUT is that most campers do not use their screen rooms, they just set up the awning.

I have the add-a-room, and really enjoy that additional space - whether for sitting outside in weatherproof/bug free area, or a protected play area for the g'kids or fur-kids, or just general storage (I put my 13-gal trash can, mop/broom and cooler out there as well as my 'drying rack').  If you have a system established before fully raising the roof - installation is pretty easy.
