The thermosat in my pup is located low, about 3 inches off of the floor. While this seems to be the best place for the control box,the temp sensor should be higherl. Is there a thermostat on the market that has a remote sensor that could be placed higher during times of operation?

That is the normal location for the thermostat on most popups since there are usually not any cabinets that are tall enough to have it permanently mounted higher. I did see on a web site somewhere though where someone had removed their thermostat and wired in a jack where it was and then put about a 6 foot cord on the thermostat and had a mating plug on the end for the jack. They then would plug the thermostat in when needed and fastened it up higher to sense the temperature higher in the popup. I don't know if it was worth all the effort though. We have been satisfied with the way ours works where it is, just had to play with the setting to find the right one. Ours would not work that great though when we first got the popup but I found the cure on this forum years ago was to adjust the heat anticipator in the thermostat, works great now.

Is your thermostat really only 3 inches off the floor?

Looking at photo of people's pups here and on ebay, etc. it seems like the t-stats are usually mounted in the sink galley, so they swing or lift up higher when the sink is set up.

I installed a furnace in our Starcraft, and that's how I mounted the t-stat....into the side of the lift-up sink galley.  We leave it set to 60*F and that seems to keep both bunk areas pretty nice for sleeping.

Yes. The t-stat is about 3inches off the floor. It is located under the lounge bench. Our pup is a high sider and the galley is perm.I'm gonna look at relocating the t-stat to the galley side as you have installed in your pup. That should get it up high enough. Thanks!!! :!

I don't know what your t-stat housing/setup looks like......but I found one on ebay that was mounted in a nice recessed textured plastic housing.  That allowed me to take a jigsaw (drilled a hole to start the blade) to the side of my sink galley cabinet, cut out a quick and no-so-perfect hole, and then set the recessed housing into the side of the cabinet.  Didn't take much time or effort to do, looks great, and it's out of the way so as to not get bumped or water spilled into it.

Perfect!  It'll look great installed up high and be easy to do.  Now you just need to decide what you're going to put in the old hole.  Maybe a cool LED battery voltage meter?  AM/FM/CD player with EQ?

DW wants another outlet. That's a possibility. We'll see.I like the LED voltage meter idea.
