Quote from: 6fordaroadHey Gary,

You think that was breathtaking, next time, go in early spring!!  The snow in the canyon is wonderful!  We didn't see any condor's there, BUT we couldn't go near the edge very much, I have 3 that are deathly afraid of heights.  I did take pics, but I had my camera on the wrong setting so they are like 120x120, way too small :(  BUT that means we'll have to go back and do it again.. hehehe

That's one thing that I love about the Canyon. It changes by the time of year and even the time of day. There were no clouds the day we went for the sunset so the sunset itself was unspectacular. I know that down here we get some unbelievable sunsets during monsoon season so I imagine it's the same up there. I have seen lots of pictures with the snow and it does add yet another element to the photos.

I avoided a photographic catastrophe by forgetting to pack my battery charger for the digital camera. Luckily the one in it was almost full and the second battery was fully charged. The battery life is pretty long so I didn't need to recharge the first batter. I had put the charger alone with a couple of other things down to do something and thought I had packed them.

We do plan on going back sometime and we may choose a different time of year so we can get a "new" view of the Canyon.

I made a trip out about 10 years ago with my youngest daughter, but we stayed in a motel.  This was a trip I'd wanted to make since I was a kid and read "Brighty of the Grand Canyon".  We spent the morning hours touring the canyon, and the afternoons my daughter wanted to enjoy the pool (compromise).  We only stayed 3 days, but it gave real meaning to the word "Awesome".

I made another trip to GC, with my eldest daughter about 5-6 years ago, and again we stayed in a motel, and only spent one full day in the park, but we met the Condor folks and got some nice pictures while there, and enjoyed our views to the maximum.

I would love to make another trip out - maybe solo, so I could spend more time enjoying the vistas without someone pulling me away!
