Did an impromptu camping trip this weekend and it looks like the tow-the-pup-with-an-old-lawn-tractor is going to work pretty good.  Unfortunately, the tires had sunk into our crazy hard adobe clay soil, so I had to use the 'burb to get the camper out of it's storage garage, but the 12hp Toro tows it just fine.....

I've done this myself at home when I wanted to move the pup from the front of our property to the back or back the other way.  It worked, but severly strained the tractor.  Tongue weight was a bit heavy, probably should have a weight distributing hitch to do it right.  :eyecrazy:

that is too funny I'd never have thought.... but glad it worked! :eyecrazy:

A friend does the same with his 10' Jayco. He had to do some landscaping because the tractor was digging into the soft dirt when pulling the camper over a hill.

Just be sure not to use a standard lawn tractor with a hydrastatic transmission. These are very light duty and will surely burn up. A lot of cautions in my Cub Cadets owners manual. However a standard transmission seems to work with most.

Have a good one.

I used to tow my old Starcraft around with my lawn tractor.  Of course it had a tongue weight of about 50 pounds.

Might have trouble with the current PUP...

Hi Mike,
Yeah, I've got a standard trans.  This model was available with hydrostatic, but mine thankfully not built that way.
