My friend has one but he bought a matching truck at the junk yard and used the frame and bed to make a trailer and mount his camper on.
He got tired of loading and unloading his truck camper after a trip.
since he used the same 4x4 truck his camper rides level and at the same height of his truck has the same rims/tires and they can share the same spare.

In the 1970's I had a slide-in truck camper that I used on my 3/4 ton International pickup.  As the truck was also used for farming purposes, I set the camper on a utility trailer when not in use.  It worked great for a "mobile office" at a grain handling facility during harvest time, or to take for staying at a remote farm.  But, I towed it slow (under 50 mph), and under 20 miles. I wouldn't have used that setup for camping.  When camping, it was always used on the truck.
