In the 11 months that we have had the pup we have only stayed in cg's. My neighbor told me about a creek a couple of hours from the house with camping. He has gone riding his quads out there and told me that there was hardly anyone there. I did a search on it and came up with this http://www.utchs.com/Haigler-Creek1.htm
It's a free campground in The Tonto National Forest. We can camp right down by the creek which is full of trout. We can also go swimming. We are going July 26th & 27th with our new neighbors that just moved in up the street that have a pup. (I gave them the link to this site). When those of you not from AZ look at the pictures you may be surprised. Most people think of AZ has nothing but desert. A couple of hours from our house we are in the cool air and tall trees of the mountains.

I'm really excited about this trip. This is the kind of camping I dreamed of when we bought the pup. I will take plenty of pictures and write all about it when we return. If anyone from AZ wants to join us, please feel free. The more the merrier!

Sounds like an awesome trip.  Lots of trout and lots of outdoors. I'm interested in how much different you find boon docking than "regular" camping.  Give us a blow by blow of how it affected your routine on the trip if you don't mind.  Have a great trip

I will write all about it when I return. We are only going for a night but I am so excited about this trip. I know that in other parts of the country lakes, brooks and streams you can camp near are more prevalent but when you live in the desert finding a place like this is really cause to celebrate. I'm sure there are more places around, I just have to find them!
