Sorry, this was meant to answer the forum question of those taking dogs camping, not general information.
I take my two Dobergirls with me but don't even consider KOA or those that talk about "certain breeds" . I got my popup to attend Agility events without the hassle of extra hotel charges, and no dog allowed policies so I don't even want to consider places that obviously don't want us. When I set up, I stake an area from one end of the pup to the other with snow fence and make a gated entry at one end to come and go so they can run out the dog without worry they will go off somewhere without me. Lena is a 1 yr old rescue and Morgan is my 4 yr old show/agility girl. She is well trained obviously, so I resent being excluded from certain parks based on breed type alone. Dogs are what people make then to be... I would not consider traveling or camping without my girls!!

I can understand your frustration. You are right that just because it's a certain breed doesn't make it a bad dog. I however do the see the cg's side of things too. For a policy such as that to be in place my guess is that they have had situations in the past that made them feel it was necessary. Remember they have a legal obligation to their customers and their safety and I'm sure they don't want to be spending money on law suits. We all know that certain breeds of dogs are more susceptible to certain types of behavior and cg's feel that if they are going to error they are going to error on the side of safety. When you hear or read in the news about people being mauled by dogs more often than not they are Pit Bulls and not German Shepards or another breed. Neighbors down the street have two big dobermans and while they look intimidating they are very well behaved dogs and no one feels threatened by them. I guess it's just a price you must pay in order to your breed of choice.
