We'll be camping in Blackwoods CG in Acadia NP, ME soon for an extended weekend. We will be tent camping and while I've been planning and packing and REpacking, I've been think about how much easier it is with the PUP!

By the time I pack the Tent, Air Matresses, Sleeping Bags, Stove, Paddling Bag with all the safety gear, hiking bag with all the boots and shoes, other clothes bags, there is little room left for food or us!!!

I told my wife, I'm not sure it's worth it just to save the $40.00 or so that it would cost us in gas to tow the PUP!!!

I vote to take the PUP- Is this not why we purchased them??? - not having to repack- and REPACK and maybe have room for the food and the kids - :-()

I vote to take the pup and sleep comfortably.

DW and I are heading there for a week starting Aug 2.  Will that overlap with you?

Hi Gene & miss kathy,

Reservations already made for a tent site so this year is locked in, but NEXT year.... I think PUP is coming too! I couldn't believe what a difference the PUP made in travel! Wife and I like to sleep in a tent, but if we ever went back to it more than once or twice a year, I'd need a bigger vehicle to pack the stuff in than I do to tow the PUP!!

Gene, No we're only there for 4 days! Wish it was more, there's lots of hiking there that we haven't done yet.

Then there's the Mussels and Clams and lobsters, (oh my!) from Parson's cooked over a campfire at Blackwoods. Mmmmm, are we there yet!!

Sorry we'll miss you. Did you get to Umbagog this year?

Aslo sorry that we won't be able to get together.

I did make it up to Lake Umbagog for my annual fishing trip with a couple of guys.

Last cast of the night and I pulled out a 21 inch (measured) 6 to 7 pound smallmouth.  Biggest bass I have ever caught and felt like a 12 year old pulling it in.

Ironically, it was camping at Blackwoods at Acadia 16 years ago that persuaded us to buy a popup.  We were in a tent, with an 11-month-old, and it rained and rained and rained.  When we got home from that vacation, we agreed that we would buy a pup as soon as we could afford one.  About a month later, one of my brothers sold us his old Starcraft for $500, and we haven't looked back since.

I'm so envious! I would love to camp at Acadia sometime. We are planning a 9-day or so trip next June and have been considering Acadia. The hard part for us is the 1,000 miles we have to drive to get there! We most likely will camp somewhere in NY for a few days, then go see Niagara Falls for a couple or three nights.

Enjoy your trip! Even if it is in a tent!   :D

Have a great trip.  I haven't been there for a couple of years and miss the park.  I also miss the popovers at the Jordan Pond house.:D
