Well we have done what people do for a living and what civic organizations people belong to so I was wondering if there was anyone besides that me that used to be in drum corps when they were younger.

I never was in the drum corps, but I was in high school band and a couple of friends there played in a drum corp. I never saw them live, but I watched some tapes of them. You have to be talented at that level.

Went to DCI this year at the Rose Bowl.  It was awesome.  I have been to a few shows during High school and after and they are awesome live.  Seems the corps are getting a little smaller than they used to, but still an amazing thing.  It will be interesting to see what happens with amplification next year...

I'm from way back so don't even get me started on amplification. I aged out in 78 and was glad to march when I did. Last summer we went back to MA for our corps reunion. It was so great to see so many old friends after all these years. My son plays percussion in the school band and I'm hoping he stays with it and maybe one day he will be in The Academy and carry on the family tradition.

I was in an all-girl drum & bugle corp for 5 years when I was younger. My dad was also in one for 10 years, he taught both me and my brother to play horn.

When I was growing up, my dad's idea of a great vacation was an all-day drum corp event - cause you gotta get there early to watch rehersals (sit in the hot sun all day), then watch the evening performances (fall asleep on the bleachers)...those were the days.

What corps were you in? I remember the days when the World Open had an all girl division. I remember those days of all day drum corps shows too. Those were indeed the days.

I found out about 6 months ago that I work with a guy that was in the Troopers the same time I marched. I had even seen him compete in the CYO Nationals in Boston way back when. There are three other people that I work with that have drum corps connections as well.

Never in Corp, but I marched in HS and College...also saw BLAST! when it came to town a few years back...what an awesome show that was.

Closest show to here this year is/was McKenzie, TN I think (at Bethel College).

Haven't been to a DCI show in five or ten years though.

I marched snare in Spirit of Atlanta in the mid-80's. Loved it, and can say the friendships and discipline and work ethic I learned were vital to my finding my own way as a young adult.
