Replacement cushions/mattress

Hey has anyone out there actually replaced any of their cushions or mattress?  I have a 2001 Coleman/Fleetwood Utah, I have owned since 2005 and believe it or not it's first trip was across country during the summer of 2005.  We clocked 9,000 miles in 2.5 months and had a ball - but we haven't stopped since and the mattress has already been topped with a topper but it's not cutting it any longer.  The dinette seats are feeling a bit flat so something needs to be done.  I know where I can get the covers should I need them but I'm most concerned with the mattress' - must we go thru the dealer on these?

Any information you all have would be greatly appreciated...  and thanks for the tips on the new awning - we love it and it seriously beats the manufactors get up. We've used it twince and love the simplicity of putting it up, and no poles to the ground out in front either - LOVE IT!

Thanks much in advance

I tend to be one to do it right rather than just go for the lowest price. I just researched fabrics when ordering an Aqualon custom-made boat cover for my boat and came across High Point Fabrics, a Sunbrella Decorative fabric for indoor and outdoor upolstery.  I thought to myself that if I ever need to redo the Rockwood interior, this would sure be a fabric worth checking out as it is tough enough for outdoor use but soft enough for comfortable furnature. At the following website: http://www.trivantage.com/casfurn/fabric/highpoint.html you can learn about the fabrics and click on a link to see the fabric designs available.  If you can do it yourself, great, otherwise have an upolstery shop, automotive trim shop, or marine trim shop do these for you.  A Jo-Anne's fabric shop has various grades of foam, you might check out their supply and see if a denser foam would suit you.

I am really sold on the heated matresses that came with my Rockwood camper, so I would probably go through the dealer if I needed to replace these.  These were made by a subcontractor in the Elkhart, Indiana area.  If you want, I could look them up so you could contact them and see if they could be custom made for your unit.  Otherwise, I would probably contact a local matress factory if one is available in your area and custom make one to your own specifications, so you could share what your expecttions are and trying out their foams.

most camper mattresses ARE pretty inexpensive, thinner foam, unless you order something special - like the above heated mattresses.  They really aren't designed to sleep on for months on end - and of course, they will wear out comparitively fast with that kind of constant wear.

You can certainly find a better quality foam at either an upholstery shop or mattress shop. or even online. I was looking for a memory foam bed mattress for my son online, and noticed that many places you could order mattresses and cushions cut to order, in varying densities and firmness.  You probably want something a little firmer for the seat cushions than for the beds.

Around here, we have Verlo mattress stores - they actually make mattresses to custom order, and have made matresses for campers. You might look into something like that.

The only thing you need to be careful of is to not get the mattresses so thick that they interfere with folding up your canvas and camper.
