Need an opinion.  I want to use a fan for outisde the camper for not only heat but also to hopefully keep bugs (flies, etc) at bay.  What seems to work better... an oscilating type fan or one of the utility fans that have different speeds and can pivot (more of a fan you might see in a garage or shop)?

I have seen a Lasko utility fan that could move a lot of air, but only in one direction versus an oscilating that well... oscilates  :)

How 'bout an awning and a screen room?  Oh, doesn't solve the heat/humidity issue.

I think you need to cruise over to Walmart or your local hardware store and take a look at their fans in person.

This depends upon what you want to accomplish.  If you are moving about or have a group of people to benefit from the breeze the ocilating fan would be best.  For pure air movement, the commercial type fans like used in a shop or for cooling livestock at the fairgounds would be best, such as these from

We usually bring along a box fan to use with our screen room tent. This helps create a breeze to help keep it a little cooler inside. These things can really hold the heat when in the sun. We just got back from a week long trip and the flies where terrlble. You could not sit out without getting bit. The fan worked great and created enough breeze to keep them off of you. Some people will call this not camping but when I go, I want to enjoy myself.
