Alright, so I've been posting questions on here for the last 10 days biding my time until I can take my new toy haulin pup out for the Labor Day holiday. And now this stupid hurricane is threatening to smack us around. I was only going to the Ms Gulf Coast to do a shake down, but now I'm afraid if I go I won't be able to get back if they impose a evacuation on us. Man this stinks! :banghead:

Whatever you do, stay safe!

In fact, maybe your shake down should be to simply fuel up and leave now...heading in the opposite direction, before all your freeways turn into parking lots and your gas stations have mile long lines.

The last thing I want to see on the 6 o'clock news is some guy with his pop-up deployed on the side of the freeway :yikes:

I think he'll make it out just fine if he departs on Friday. I doubt they will close the airport before then. The latest track puts the storm on top of Houma, La early Tuesday morning. I live in St. Tammany parish and my part of the parish is high and dry (or at least was after Katrina). The problem is the Parish President is talking about a mandatory evacuation beginning Saturday. I need to go to Ms any way to make sure my parents who live there are ready but I don't want to get shut out of my own home.

As to your B.I.L. I hope he can get home. I wouldn't want mine around any longer than necessary either. ;)

That's what I would do.  Do your shake down cruise up in Arkansas or something and get away from the storm.

Good luck!

Thanks for the good thoughts and advice. If I am stuck on the side of the road, I'll be sure and wave.

Yeah, that's real funny.  I love how the petroleum industry can't keep it's lies straight.

Gas prices hit 4.00 a gallon?   I'd be a happy camper if it would stop at 4.00 a gallon.  Most of the US doesn't realize how lucky they are with gas prices compared to Ca.  We can go watch oil tankers float up and unload crude oil, refine it at a Refinery few miles away, see the tanker trucks drive off with it, yet a gas station across the street from the Refinery has one of the ighest prices in the country.  Still haven't figured that one out.

Speaking of lies - last week there was a story on the news here about the reason for some fairly extreme variances in the price of gas in different areas of town.  A couple of locations had it about 30 cents cheaper than anywhere else.  The distributor tried to claim that some stations can sell it cheaper than others because the real estate their stations sit on is cheaper.  What a load of crap!  If that were the case, then several areas should have been even cheaper.  Lucky for me - I live within 6 miles of one of those areas where they are routinely cheaper and it's on my way to work.  Last week I paid $3.26.  Yesterday the same station was selling it for $3.45.  I guess I should be relieved that it's not $4/gallon like it was earlier this year.

As for Gustav - stay safe!  I sure hope we don't see much damage from it.
