I have a 2006 Flagstaff 625D popup and was wondering if anyone out there ever had a problem with the awning that comes with the unit. I had a problem with the legs that go to the ground, specifically the way it is fastened to the main frame that the awning rolls up on. The way it is fastened is with a piece of square thin tube about an inch and a half long and the leg tube is round and everything is fastened with rivets. They have this small square tube with angle cuts so things don't bind when folding the legs into the main frame. The way that system was designed would make every REAL engineer shake their head! Why didn't they just make the leg out of square tube in the first place? I bought a length of square tube and cut 2 pieces similar to what was there, without all of the angles and the wall thickness about 3 times as thick. I fastened everything with screws instead of rivets and now I have a system that won't bend in a breeze! Someday I will make an all square tube leg that is also telescopic and that will be super sturdy.

The awning manufacturers most likely were concerned with potential damage to an add-a-room/screen room and thus used the round tubing vs. square.

Glad you were able to modify your awning legs to your satisfaction.  Thank you for sharing.

The awning is a Trimline, and yes it has the zipper area to attach a screen room, but I would not recommend it the way the frame is put together. I had a problem without the screen room add on and can just imagine what would have happened if I had added one. The extra weight and a moderate wind would have ripped the metal ends apart. I would say if anyone has one like what I have they need to modify it so it is a bit more sturdy and able to hold up in a wind.

Could you post a photo of your awning mod? I noticed the Trimline awning on my Flagstaff got stressed at the same joint by a gust of wind this past summer. I was able to bend the aluminum back with my thumb so I could fold the leg in and roll the awning up. I haven't used my pop-up since but it's on my winter "to do list".

I will take some pics tomorrow and post them. I may need some help on posting pics as I have not done that yet.
