right after I got out of the hospital the First time I was talking to my sister in the driveway and I noticed a wasp flying around. You all know how I feel about Bees so you know I was watching this sucker. well he landed on my trailer and crawled in a small hole by the hinge on my front bunk I watched for awhile and he came out and flew off. Well today My sister saw one go in there. Since it's been absolutely forever since I've camped, I'm wondering if the wasps have made themselves a little home in my trailer. I can't see anything inside, I only looked from the door 1. because I'm a big chicken & 2. it's hard to get in the trailer.

so here's what I'm thinking I should do. Get some of that wasp spray, wait until almost dark when the little buggers are almost sleeping and slowly open the bunk end. and spray the nest if there is one.

any other ideas :eyecrazy:

my poor trailer, It's so sad it hasn't been out in so long creatures are taking it over :%

Gracy

That is exactly what I would do... wait till its dark and check it out!

If you spray it with wasp/bee spray that should do the trick.... then wait a couple more days maybe and then go back in with a pair of tongs and see if you can remove the whole thing.

I'll let the other chime in on their thoughts.... but off the top of my head thats what sounds like a plan to me!

Good luck ;)

I saw a wasp coming out of my furnace exhaust. I sprayed a wasp and hornet foam in and it plugged the hole so they could not get out or to me.

WalMart has this or something similar and it works great.

The culprits around here are those mud daubers. Maybe five or six years ago I was getting the PU (which was stored way back of the house) ready for a fishing trip to the mountains and I noticed a couple of wasps around but that's not uncommon for where I live. Early, already hitched up, I took off down the road and stopped off at where I usually buy gas and topped the tank. There were quite a few wasps buzzing around and I thought the gas station had a nest of them somewhere! Anyway, off to the mountains and when finally arriving campside there was still a wasp or two around. Then it dawned on me to check under the camper and sure enough they had set-up a large wasp motel complex under there! The good news was I had left the vast majority of them along the way and there were only a couple active that I knocked down with wasp spray (which I always keep a can aboard) and scraped off the "nesting" area. So now that's part of the maintnance program ... check under the camper on a regular basis!

usually we camp enough I don't have these problems...I'm hoping it's not a big nest. we'll find out when I pull the door down...the 3 bugs I can't stand Bees, wasps and spiders..oooh I'm getting goose bumps just thinking about it

well those little  :swear: made a nest in my trailer. they crawled in the small opening at the hinge and they made a nest about the size of my daughter fist. they actually made it in the groove on the side where the cable goes about half way up...but they payed the price for invading my space....

I've never had a wasp problem in our PU but I had a large wasp problem in the cabin of our sailboat.
Almost every weekend, I would find several wasp nest in the cabin.
I got this remedy from a friend.  When you store your PU, take a single 3 inch clorine pool tablet and place in the camper.
You may want to place the tablet in some type of small container.
I never had a wasp problem again.
My friend had a wasp problem under his patio awning until he installed a hottub.  The clorine drove away the wasps.

that's interesting. this is the first time I've had a problem, but it's also the first time it sat this long :eyecrazy:

Doesn't that make your pup smell like a chemical plant?

actually I have a hybrid and it wasn't "inside" the camper. The canvas is actually attached on all 3 sides and it gathers at the bottom. so they were between the canvas and the drop down door.

This is probably a little late, but FWIW...

Last winter, I saw a TV show on Africanized bees, and an exterminator in Arizona was using soapy water to kill them.  I always swore by RAID, but I figured I'd give it a try.  We had two or three wasp and bees nests this year.  I filled a sports bottle with water, put some liquid dish soap in it, squeezed the mix on the nest, and it killed the bees just as fast as Raid.  I couldn't believe it.  No more chemical smell, and the bees stayed away.  I was talking to my next door neighbor a few weeks ago.  He saw the same show, and did the same thing this summer.

My exp with chlorine ( a pretty strong oxidizer) tablets I store in my garage for the pool, is though they have a clean smell in low concentration or good airflow, everything steel around it will rust FAST.

[Last year I had 14 nests in the bedends when I opened it the first time.  Someone told me about BOUNCE fabric softner and I put a sheet in each outside corner and this year there has been NONE. Tried it, it works and I'm Happy.
