I cover my tires whenever the camper is not in use.  The guy that sold me my camper also included all sorts of goodies including tire covers.  They are the type that you buy at an RV store.  I love them and it really saves on the dry rot...at least I think so.

UV rays are a killer on tires, plus they are not that pricey check out these tire covers

If my camper is not in use, it in a garage, so I never have to cover the tires.  I do keep them protected and looking good with Meguiar's tire gel.

We kept our PU in the garage, and never covered the tires.

However, the hybrid is now kept outside, and I spray those tires with tire foam and then cover them. They look great every time I uncover them.

I'd be a little skeptical about using fabric to guard against UV. UV rays will penetrate most fabric.

My brother stores his TT outdoors. He has sheets of plywood (painted white) that he puts up in the wheel well.

In a word Yes. The tire covers have a vinyl component that is a UV shield and in our extended camping family we've found at least a year extra life on tires covered over those not covered. We also found in high ozone and acid rain areas 303 protectant tire treatment along with the tire covers also gave extended life.

UV doesn't damage traier tires nearly as much as lack of use does.

UV rays don't penetrate more than a few microns into the tire, so that's all they can damage - if they do that.

Our first set of pop-up tires lasted 5 years and 25,000 miles.  I kept them off the ground and used them on average 20 times a year.  They weren't dry-rotted or cracked, they were worn out.

When we replaced them, the spare, which had never been used (I rotate them now...) was just as done as the tires on the axle, even though it was always covered.

The trailer tires I've had have always worn out before they had time to crack...
