roof vent

We did have one little problem when we first left the campground to come home yesterday. I looked in the mirror and noticed my roof vent cover was flapping in the wind. I had to stop and got some duct tape from the gas station to tape it down so it wouldn't break off and fly away. I noticed when I cranked the vent down to pack up the trailer, I heard a little noise. It must have been that little piece breaking off. I may have cranked a little too much to make sure the vent was all the way closed.
 
 Now I need to figure out how to replace that. It looks like the little plastic piece that attached to the "arm" to wind it up and down snapped off. Anyone know if the whole thing needs to be replaced or can I just get a new plastic piece and reattach it to the arm?

If you don't mind spending a bit more, I'd think about a MaxxFan.

2. it can be left open when raining

that Maxxfan looks like a nice upgrade. I don't think at this time I can go that route though.

I'm not sure if you'll find parts for this repair, at least not cheaply.
A cheap replacement for the vent is about $30, a bit better one maybe $45. Another option is a vent cover? They run around $25-40. Check out some options here-
