Hey everybody, we will be taken our maiden voyage on our new 2008 Rockwood PU 2318G to this park.  Has anyone ever camped there?  It looks real nice on the website.

Well, we made the maiden voyage and with much success, but the location, well, left alot to be desired.   This location is not a state park but privately owned therefore alcohol is allowed.   It's a shame because the level of drunkenness, rowdiness, loudlness, and just outright rudeness made this location very family unfriendly.  Our 10 yr old daughter asked, "are we the only ones without tattoos and piercings and why does everyone have a blue can in their hand --bud light cans?".
There was so much foul language, no respect for the children and just one big drunken Daytona Beach party....
Considering how expensive this park is too....$22/adult per night, $11/child under 12 per night, $7/water and electric per night.
The springs were beautiful, but not worth having to battle all the trashy people.

Darknight - Ginnie used to be one of our favorite CG's until the cost went up.  As you noticed it is a per person not per site charge and anything they can tack on after that.  Also since they don't accept pets we haven't been there in years.

You seem to get the college crowd from Gainesville on holiday weekends - That is one place we learned right away not to waste our holiday weekends on.  From my understanding they lost their alcohol beverage license a while back due to the teenagers and underage college kids.  My son witnessed a girl drunk off her butt wreck a ATV into a tree.  She was taken off in an ambulance.  Since he was a witness an attorney called us for a statement a few weeks later even though he gave the police a full statement at the time.  Of course we were there on a "weekend"  That was over 5 years ago but we have not been back since.

Last we heard they were upgrading and adding sites with electric, water and sewer.  Did that happen yet?   We have seen the place make so many changes since started going there back in the 80's.

However on a good note, if you go during the week (without a holiday) you pretty much have the place to yourself.  Only thing is I used up a lot of vacation days that way.  Like I said avoid Holidays and weekends, the place is really beautiful.  I love tubing the river and have not found anyplace like it anywhere.

How about respect for other campers. You've hit a sore spot for my wife and I. Don't take this as a personal attack but there have been many of times where parents didn't control their brats as they flew between camp sites without a care in the world. But of course not my child, right. The fact is, that it was a child period.  I've even watched one familys' 10 yr old take a stick and light it using the campfire then running by the camper and burning the canvas. What did the parents do....nothing!  I Love to camp and have a beer or two and when kids are present I use a plastic cup. I don't get drunk and slap tattoos all over my body. And as far as piercings.....that's gotta hurt. Remember what Joel Osteen says "don't let someone else take your happiness." I do hope that your next outing is a pleasant one.
