Is this normal?

This is the cable lift winch i turn it one way and it ratchets (clicks) and turn the other way and it seems to loosen off. Is this normal or does it need an adjustment?

Normal to rachet one way and loosen the other way. Once you put the roof all the way up the loose way will lower the roof. Don't over turn it to the loose side when the roof is down or the cable can fall off the master pulley.

Talked to goshen stamping and he said it is a compression type system and will only crank if there is pressure on it.....safety thingy...
