I think this is sad. Starcraft has a lot of very talented people who have made great products including the Centennial, the first high wall camper to hit the market and their RT10 was the first pop up to include a cargo deck.  Now all of the pop up makers have similar models.

I certainly hope the industry rebounds this spring.

This bums me out to hear too. Especially in knowing that 244 families just lost their income at a time, and probably in a location, where finding new jobs will be extremely difficult.

I wonder how many more RV manufacturers are going to be hit.  Last month, La Mesa RV in San Bernardino went out of business.  People losing their jobs, in this economy, and just before the holidays.  This sucks...

I work near the Fleetwood Motor home factory near Elyesburg PA.  They are closing at the beginning of the year.:(

Two weeks ago, DW and I took a Saturday trip up to the mountains to check out the fall colors on the Blue Ridge Parkway. On the way back we stopped at a large and well known RV dealer to have a look at the inventory. Saturdays are usually busy days there with customers and lookers. Not this time, we were surprised to see the place deserted. There were actually more sales people standing around than customers. While there, wife overheard two salespeople saying that if business did'nt pick up soon, they would all be looking for other jobs. Lately, I have been checking the inventories of different dealers on the RV Trader Online and most still have plenty of 08 models [except popups] that are not selling..
I have recently heard of two NC RV dealers that are history and we have had a Ford and a Dodge dealer in our area go out of business in the past two months.. Business is slow everywhere and it looks like things might get worse before they get better..I hope not..

Here in AZ Beaudry RV which is a pretty big dealership with stores in Tucson and Chandler (east valley of PHX) has filed Chapter 13. They deal mainly in the larger mh's.

The good news is that gas prices keep falling, $2.05 today and they say we should see it under $2 by the end of the month. I filled up my car Tuesday for $2.13 and the next day the same station was 2.07. I wouldn't have waited but my fuel light was on.

I received this email from our dealer. They are/were Starcraft's #1/#2 dealer, and had many other brands. Great family to deal with. I'm so sad for them.

Starcraft isn't going out of business, they're closing their factory and moving the production the Jayco factory about 25 miles away.

Jayco & Starcraft are owned by the same family.

It's a sad time for our economy right now.

I hope that things can turn around but I am a bit pessimistic.  I think we may lose several brands of RVs before things turn around.

This Thanksgiving, I'm truly thankful for having my job of 8 years and that our company is doing well.
