I drove down to San Clemente this morning to pick up a pickup, and the fire in Sylmar was going full tilt.  By the time I came back through about noon, there was another fire, that appeared to be even larger, just east of Long Beach somewhere.  The 405 freeway was like nuclear winter, and I could barely breathe the smoke was so bad.......not to mention the burning eyes!  It was taking 15min or more at 65mph to get through the smoke.

Of course the fire just south of Santa Barbara (in Montecito) was still going early this morning, but by the time I came through on the way home, the fire trucks were lined up in groups, heading towards LA on the freeway and the fire was out.

We had one yesterday about a mile away as the crow flies, but they got it out in just a couple hours.  It did destroy one home, but that's nothing compared to the hundred some homes gone in Montecito.

Hope you guys are okay.

So far its over 500 homes lost just this weekend :(  Tragic.  The air is even bad here in Pasadena... but I've seen no ash here yet.

Many prayers said.

The fire you saw in OC is being called the Freeway Complex Fire. It is not under control and is threatening thousands of homes in Yorba Linda, Brea, Corona, and Anaheim Hills. My BIL, SIL, and 2 y/o nephew live in Yorba Linda and are packing up necessities for possible evacuation as we speak. Our prayers are with everyone affected by all of the So Cal fires. We live in a firezone ourselves and understand and have experienced firsthand the fear and danger of having our home threatened by wildfires and being under evacuation orders.

Very sad news..... my best friends father and his family lived in that mobile home park in Sylmar...... they have lost everything..... no time to pack anything.  Please say a prayer they have a little one too. :(

Man that's terrible news all the way around.

OC Campers

My nephew's in laws also lived in the mobile home park in Sylmar.  They run a business out of their home and about all they had time to get were some business papers and a few personal effects.

There are so many families affected by the fires, my heart and prayers go out to them.

If you'd like to see a few pictures from the fire click the link below.

I have several more and will add a new one each day.
