Lack of Storage

Our Coleman Santa Fe is roughly the same floor plan as our previous popup, but it has WAY less storage. I think because this one has a fridge and our last one did not. Also the wheel wells extend into the living space, which I don't think we had before, and they take up space. I just decided not to stress over it. I bought a couple plastic totes with handles (the kind people use for cleaning supplies) for plastic glasses, paper plates, cooking utensils and pull them out of the cupboard at meal time. Towels, fan, heater, and stuff we don't use much we put under the dining benches. Clothes we keep in our duffle bags and move about as needed. Firewood, grill, charcoal, swimming floats,  hiking boots go outdoors under one of the pull out beds.  It is just my husband and me (and the dog) and I marvel at how we stayed semi-organized when we camped with two kids! We just go as simply as possible. Actually, I think as long as my husband can find the beer and pretzels, he's happy.

Dorreen, that awning is very cool - I've never seen one like that - is it a custom make or something that is particular to the UK?   I'd love to see more photos of it. it looks more like some of our tents rather than the add-a-rooms that I've typically seen.

As for additional storage - my current PUP seems to have limitless space for us! LOL!

But my first PUP was teeny-tiny - and we camped much like we did with scouts - in our troop, the boys weren't supposed to keep backpacks, etc in the tents - as the frames rip walls and floor. So we had learned early to store most stuff OUTSIDE the camper in waterproof /critter proof packaging.  Even in my larger PUP, floor space fills quickly, so I use large, waterproof totes for alot of stuff.  Things that stay in the camper, like bedding and towels, a 'pantry' box and 'kitchen' box are all in moveable totes that can be left outside under the awning, under a bunk, or in the screen house with the picnic table.  They are still accessable, but don't have to be INSIDE the camper, and if it rains or the dew is heavy, they stay dry.  (they also make handy side tables to the lawn chairs)

Anything with 'food smells' is in a plastic footlocker type tote with latches that can be locked to keep the 'coons out of them, or, if the critters are especially inventive at a campground, the food totes and coolers go back into the TV at night or when we're gone a few hours.

If we have lots of people with us - meaning all the beds are being used for people - we try to keep our clothes in the car, and take only clothes into the camper to wear the next day.

my camping buddy uses a tutle to store stuff under the bunk end and straps it to the roof on the way there it was a neat idea looking for a used one myself now

I am faced with storage issues as well. I love the E3 but it seems, IMO, it's lacking interior storage. I also wish there was a way to get into a storage compartment from the outside.
