My son and I were blessed with nice weather and a great weekend of camping with family.  We stayed at my father-in-law's property in the North Carolina Mountians near Todd, N.C.  To reach his cabin, we have to cross a stream (see photos).  Once set up, we had fun target shooting, four-wheeling, playing in the stream, and helping chopping fire wood.  For supper, I made a slow cooker with a stone between my stove flame and pot for some great camp chili.

I included photos of our trip at my Webshots account.  The first two albums in my account were of our first pop-up.  It was stolen 1 year ago and this is the first time I have been able to post phots of our new camper.  We really like it.  It is a Jayco J/Trax which was produced only 1 year (2007).  It is a very simple 8 foot pop-up.  Since I like to cook outside, I did not need a stove inside.  Also, we set up a water container for our "sink" when dry camping and I made a sink that I will post phots soon that allows us to use campground water to wash hands, dishes, brush teeth, etc outside.

Nothing beats pop-up camping. I returned home rested with lots of great memories.

I'm familar with the area ~ Have fished the New River over towards Jefferson way. Also, here's a pic of my little Starcraft on an outing over in the direction of the Scott Reservoir on some land a fishing buddy's family owns. We had a tire on the camper go bad, which had to be replaced, and that's the tire leaning against the camper tongue. The good news was that Carlisle picked up the tab for the tire replacement but the old tire had to be sent back to them (they had it picked up by UPS at my house).
