Has anyone camped at Tecalota Springs RV resort in sage, CA?  I just looked it up on line and it looks nice it off or Rancho California Rd   Also there is another campground out there called Indian oaks but it looks like a trailer park..Then there is also Pechanga RV resort...nice but connected to an indian casino..Just trying to find somewhere closer to in the middle..  Maybe Kristi and Dan have been there?[IMG]

Hey Sue
Just so happens that Mary and I stayed there a few years back. Its a privately owned campground, not a RV park so there is nothing fancy about this campground. they have a private fishing lake and a small petting area. There pool can get very full on a hot day. we went on a memorial day weekend and we had a real problem with bees there at the time. They have warning signs all over about watching for snakes, (but we never saw any). They have a hook-ups area and a non-hook-ups area. The only real down side to the place for us is that its a hike (drive) from the town area and that they lock their gates at 10pm. If their prices are a lot cheaper then Pechanga RV resort then it might be a good place for a small rally.

Temecula is a hike for you guys...but not too out of the way for others...which campground did you stay at, Tucalota Springs or Indian Hills?  Pechange is nice and modern..but a big hugh parking lot on the property of Pechange indidan casino..but have a pool and a shuttle to town.  But it up there in price and not too much for kids to do, A lot of fun for adults if you like to loose money gambling.  it would have to be probably an adult trip..which may be hard for our family group.  There is alway Woods Valley in Valley Center, I know Kim and Rich gave it a bad review but it is nice when its not raining and it is close to 2 casinos and Baites nut farm that alway has things going on...I'm Just thinking out loud.

When I read Woods Valley Campground, I got the shivers remembering our HORRIBLE trip there.  Now that it's been about 2 years since we've been there, we may be interested in going to a rally there.  DH and I seem to remember that  it's not easy going up the hill/getting into some of the sites up there.  There are some nice sites in certain loops that will be easier to get in/out of.

We'll keep this in mind.

At Woods Valley there are full hookups in the spaces by the office and its really shady there also you are under big oaks...

Indian Oaks definitely has its share of "park model" trailers and 5th wheels that look to be there to stay. Most of the park is taken up with semi-permanent residents, with the standard coaches with fenced sites, full size BBQs, cars, etc.

There is also an area that is open to just RVers. If you check out the site map at http://www.indianoaks.info/ you will see a section at the bottom of the image with sites 1-12. We stayed in sites 6 & 7 last spring. These sites all have water and power, although if 12 units all kick on their A/C at the same time I doubt if the electrical breakers could handle it.

The staff was very friendly and very helpful. We asked about campfires and the next thing we know a fire pit and a load of wood is dropped off...free of charge.

The beach area has horseshoes, volleyball, water balloon launchers and other things to do. This is also where the BBQ area and outdoor bar/lounge are, along with the office and a small store.

The campground is outside of the immediate area where all of the big-name wineries are, a couple of miles past Calloway Vineyards.

Was this the nicest campground we ever stayed in? No.
Would we camp here again? Probably.

Woods Valley is a place I have wanted to get to but haven't yet, so if you go, make sure you post details we may go with.

Funny though, I just read this thread and then checked email and got an invite from Thousand Trails CG in Temecula for complimentary 4day 3 night stay, and get $50 Walmart card....  If you are interested let me know I will forward it to you.  Anyone ever stay there??  Maybe we can forward it to all the SCCAMPERS and all book for the same time, and all get a FREE RALLY.

I haven't been there but had friends that went with the YMCA and they hated it and said it's a rattle snake pit

This is where the Airstream rally was when we were there. I wouldn't mind staying in this area but it will be a bit of a jaunt to get to the pool and walking around the campground. I wonder if they up-graded their so-called playground.

May sounds good for us, we don't have anything down for May yet.

We've been to a couple Thousand Trails campgrounds and weren't impressed with  any of them.  The 1st one was Pio Pico and we were the only PUP there and the funny thing was that the slide didn't work.  It wasn't slippery so DH had to scoot down in his jeans.  We HAD to listen to  their Sales Pitch and they were extremely PUSHY.  When we told them we weren't interested in their membership shortly into the meeting, they wouldn't give us the $50 Camping World gift card that we were entitled to.  We e-mailed both Camping World and Thousand Trails' main office and shortly there after, we received it in the mail.

The 2nd was when we had the Yosemite rally.  I liked the non-member side of the campground because it had trees and was pretty nice but the member side didn't have any trees/shade, the campers were out in the open sun.   It didn't seem/feel like you were in the forest and especially near Yosemite.

If you want a free weekend, Silent Valley gives a free weekend and if you don't like the campground, you don't have to hear their speall (?)
