Heater Problem

I have a 94 Starcraft.  This last fall we went camping and the heater would not kick on.  Looking at the schematics it appears the fan must come on first before the ignitors will spark.  The fan doesn't come on when the thermostat calls for it.  I believe the fan or a switch is bad, perhaps the thermostat.   I have yet to go out and troubleshoot the system.

Anyone have any experience with heaters?   Care to share the best troubleshooting tips?

Thanks in advance.

Start with the basics and work toward the more complex.

You'll need a fully charged battery, so make sure you've got 12+ volts at the battery, and back at the connections on the furnace.  Then, with the thermostat turned "on" and set for a higher tempurature than the inside of the trailer is, you should be getting continuity with an ohm meter, through those t-stat wires, so that the furnace gets the signal to turn on.

I recently had a burned connection in my t-stat, and replaced it with a new one from ebay.

Thank you!  I also should have stated Furnace as I was corrected on another board for poor terminology.  :)

Great stuff!  The movie brought back memories of the films shown in grade school...I think the narrator was the same guy.

My Hydro-flame furnace has an off/reset switch behind the cover and if I don't 'reset' it, the fan, etc., does not work (I have to remember to do this after I've disconnected the battery and reconnected).  Once it's reset, if the battery voltage is above 10.5 VDC to 13.5 VDC all will work for me (provided I've remembered to turn on the 12-volt power switch inside the camper).
