We are looking to upgrade from tent camping to a Pop-up.  The problem I have run into is finding one that I can pull behind my Jeep Wrangler.  The Wrangler is rated towing capacity is 2000 lbs.  The rating is based upon the short wheel base and not the power train.  Small size is OK  and actually preferable since there are just two of us.   The 2000 lbs is total for the trailer and all the gear but I would like to keep it as light as possible.  Any recommendations or experiences with Jeep Wranglers and Popups would be most appreciated.

How about Aliner or Chalet... either has light weight and easy to set up models. Ideal for 2.

Check out the new Fleetwood Element line of PU's.  The Neon weighs 940# empty, Cobalt is 1245#, and the Graphite is 1425#.  I have a cobalt to pull with my 12 year old S-10 Blazer with 150,000 miles on it.  Pulls great!

I second that.  That combination (Wrangler and Chalet or Aliner) is what I hope to downsize to after my children move on.

And Welcome to PUT!

I tow a viking 1795 with my 98 Jeep Wrangler 4cylinder.  No problem on flats but hills are a problem.  It's pushing a little just take your time.  Getting a sway control as trucks can be a problem.  Don't recomend for long trips we stay local.  Looking for a larger truck soon though.

You can easily pull this tent camper style Quicksilver PopUp, and enjoy much more roominess than the Aliner/Chalet style of PopUp.

I don't know how they import them, (probably purchase them while on vacation), but I have begun to see European/Australian style PopUps at California campgrounds.  An old 1999 Pennine Sterling 510 like this one was setup at Lake Jennings campground last weekend.  They have a box and amenity constuction similar to American Popups, but with a tent roof, and lightweight enough to easily be pulled by a car or smaller SUV.

Hey There!
We have a 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sport and a 2005 Fleetwood Yuma. We haven't had any problems towing. We've pulled it thru the hills of KY and TN with no problem. As mentioned before you may need to take it slow. The only probem we've had, according to my husband, is that I can't drive a 5 speed :) Oh well!

As a jeep owner you already know about the lack of room. But it's just the two of us too so sometimes we take the back seat out and fill it up with firewood and coolers. Good Luck on your hunt.

P.S. We don't miss sleeping on the ground one bit, and I bet you won't either
I love my PU

Unfortunately, FTCA discontinued the Element series and the smallest Evolution series pup - the Cobalt has a GVWR of 2300 pounds.

However, you might want to look at their Switchback (GVWR 1300#).  Here is the link.

The switchback is a neat looking little camper.

I really wanted a Kamparoo just nothing close to look at

Also there is the Jumping Jack.

That would be handy as pockets on pants to an off roader.
