coleman mach heat strip (long sorry)

I have recently purchased a NTU 98 coleman bayside.  Everything works great for an 11 year old camper EXCEPT the heat strip.  I had the camper hooked up in the back yard for sort of a test run last weekend and the heat strip was just not adequate.  My father in law is an electrician, so we ran a 30 amp service directly off my shop so I know the current is there.  The ac when tested with my little thermometer seemed to be working great.  It looks like the limit switch for the heat strip was replaced at some point.  The amperage tested fine and the temperature on the strip itself was 160 degrees F.  However, when we measured the air temp just outside the vents, the air was 70 degrees.  It seems the fan is almost blowing too hard and cooling off the coil too much.  There is only 1 speed setting for the heat mode which is "lo heat".  I am wondering if I need a bigger strip?  This one is 1.6 KW and the limit switch was kicking it out at 160 degrees, cooling off and then coming back on so everything seems to function as it should.
We don't do a lot of "cold" weather camping, but in the north Ga mountains it can get quite chilly in early spring and late fall.  By the way, we were running all these tests last Friday the 13th at around lunch when the temp outside was around 60.

I do not have a furnace and do not have the dough to pony up for one at the time.  I can replace the heat strip if necessary or buy a space heater (though I am not thrilled about it).  But I am kind of anal about things performing the way they should and to me this ain't.

Any help is greatly appreciated and I gotta say that after seeing some of y'alls mods, my wife is gonna be mad at me for a while!
 ;)

Thanks
Wade

Many folks complain about the seemingly lack of heat from the ac heat strip.
Most are 5,000 BTU. A btu is a btu, but moving air can cause a chill! BTW, 1.6kw ~ 5500 BTU

Get one or more $20 electric heaters that have various adjustments.

FYI, here is a link to Coleman Mach "Add the optional Heater Assembly, and you
