2008 Fleetwood Saratoga:
Not happy about opening the door and reaching outside to turn the porch light on.

"Excuse me visitor, while I reach past your face to turn on the light so I can see your face." Or, worse yet, open the door, turn on the light and surprise a skunk that would have been no threat, if I had seen him before opening the door and leaning out.

How do you reach the porch light wires from inside the trailer?
When pushing the wires back and forth from the outside, they seem to be bumping against the back of the under sink cabinet.  It would be nice to be able to install a switch inside the door on the outside of the sink cabinet.

Thanks

I think i've got the fix you're looking for.
Remove your porch light cover and unscrew the entire fixture from the pup.
Pull the light fixture out far enough to cut the wires.
Tape the new wires (you will need the same guage wire) to the wires you just cut that run through the wall of the pup and into the cabinet.
From inside the pup pull the original wires through, this will also pull the new wires through with them.
Now you have both sets of wires that you need to hook up to your inside switch.
Origanal wires going into the switch. New wire going from switch to light.
Attatch wires to the ones you cut that go to the light.
Does that make any sense? :eyecrazy:
Hope it helps.

Or you could carefully drill a hole through the  back of the light fixture and into the cabinet you mentioned, fish two wires through the hole to where you would like the switch, remove one of the wires on the light and splice it to one of the new switch wires and attach the other new switch wire to the light where you removed the wire. Install a switch in the camper on the new wires and you are all set.

Thanks.  It was a post by BuddyBear that inspired the question in the first place.
Went out to the trailer and found the back of the cabinet blocking the way, though.

Did not want to draw the wrath of the DW by making unnecessary holes in the PUP.  She loves it like a family pet.  Actually pats it.

So:
Make a hole in the back of the cabinet, locate the porch light wires.
Remove the porch light.  Add extension wires to the porch light.
Pull both sets of wires (interior and exterior) through the hole in the back of the cabinet.
Connect to a switch mounted inside the door.

Thanks.  I would not have controlled both sets of wires as well and I would not have thought about being able to turn the light on from either inside or outside until it was too late.

Much more assured of 1st time success, now.
Thanks rccs and BuddyBear.

Not being able to turn it off from either the inside or outside is what I'd hate!
