Copied this from another site. It is so well put that I had to share :o

I have had my pop-up for almost 4 years now. Always reading stuff and found this site. This site is just like my pop-up, COMFORTABLE. I read an article a couple years ago that I have never forgotten. It basically said that Pop-Up campers are "Front Porch" kind of campers. It is true if you think about it. Our campers don't provide us with any reason to just sit inside them. No big areas, with full kitchens, and separate rooms to get away from each other. Pop-Ups are only really good for sleeping in and maybe a quick meal and/or shelter from a rainstorm. Not big enough to hang out in with all the kids. So, you find yourself sitting outside all the time. Hence "Front Porch" kind of people. You turn out to be the friendliest campers at the park. Since we are outside all the time. Pop-up campers are the ones that say "Hi" as you walk past. They are sitting under their awnings in the rain, enjoying a cup of coffee watching the rain fall. They don't go inside unless they really have too. The AC isn't used much during the day. We are outside, but is welcome at night to cool the camper for sleeping. We don't have a lot of room, so we don't pack a ton of stuff. (Well, we pack till the Pop-Up is full, then we have to quit. Imagine if we had a big camper) Yep, Pop-up campers are a different breed of camper. I was going to upgrade to a bigger camper, with Kids and grand kids all getting old enough to go camping all the time.(The Pop-Up just isn't big enough anymore) But decided to hold off one more year. I like being the "Front Porch" kind of camper, and I sure hope I don't lose this mentality when I finally upgrade to a bigger camper.

He now owns a hybrid and apparently still has this attitude.

Well stated even if it is a re-print and yes I think it is right about pup campers but I also think we with pup roots tend to do the same thing.....Kinda get used to sitting outside and being the CG greeters.......I do enjoy having our TT now it suits the needs of two old grandparents with old hips,backs,etc..... Besides
we would have never met our SCCamper family if we hadn't had our well loved pup......See ya soon.....

You do make some very valid points.  I remember reading that one of the reasons why people don't know their neighbors anymore is the invention of AC. In the past people use to sit outdoors as it was cooler there than inside.

I don't know if there is a relationship between the age of kids and whether their family camps in tents or PUPs.  However, I know my three year grand daughter does not want to stay inside.  She either wants to be at the play ground or playing with the neighboring kids.... which means we are outside with her.

When I first found a pop up forum, this is the exact prejudice I had.
A frugal way to explore and share, ie camping!. I quickly found out there were all kinds of PUs and PU campers. The OP's quote is my concept of 'camping'. Even a stripped PU has enough amenities to enjoy being outside for extend stays and an opportunity to witness some great places.
