I have made a proposal to Dave on starting a forum that would just be about Tow Vehicles. Where questions can be asked from regular maintenance to tow vehicle upgrades. Also, where we can share info of experiences we've done to our own tow vehicles . We have a Fix It Forum that centers around our trailers, I think a separate forum for our TV's would be a great addition.

Great idea Brian. I could see how it would/could help new & old members alike.

Would be very helpful for sure!!!

I hope they don't mind me using them as an example..... but when I read Freedom5's siggy and saw they tow a big trailer with their '03 Trailblazer especially if they travel through the grapevine I'm totally amazed!  Shayne and I are under the impression we could never tow anything bigger then what we have now with ours (we have the same vehicle)..... I believe our max is 5,300lb.  Even the Fleetwood Avalon we thought would be pushing the limit once loaded.

Anyway I think a towing forum is totally relevant.... especially if the majority of members here are towing. ;)

PS: remember all my sway bar questions.... you guys were so helpful!!!  TY :)

I know we have asked lots of questions during our camping times......Would be nice to have a place to post our questions.......thanks

I think its a great idea. but then again, my ideas and helpful hints don't always get taken the way they were meant...  :book:

MotherNature

excellent idea.

Hi Brian,

I think the idea is fabuloso!
And.....I'll tell you why.
My husband and I have now owned 3 pop's I have have owned 4 not to mention the 1978 Coleman Brandywine my parents had when I was growing up, which is the very reason I have a "tent camper" today (as we so foundly called it back in the day).
Anyway, last year (2008) we bought our very own, never sold from the dealer, 2007 Fleetwood Westlake. It was a clearance model seeing as they had purchased sooo many. Anyway at the time we had a Ford Freestar. Now don't get me wrong I really loved my minvan BUT we were at the very top of our towing ablilities when we purchased it, and it wan't until I had done further research that I found out that, umm you have to deduct the amount you can pull whenever your climbing. Well lets see 8,000-10,000ft. Well we had been pulling away just wonderful but upon much research I did find others who were pulling with the exact same vehicle and were not even towing as much weight nor not at such elevations and their transmissions had gone out AND were not covered because they were over the weight limits because of the elevations they were traveling in at the time, which voided the warrantee on the minvan. Sooo needless to say we decided to upgrade our tow vehicle.
So we bought a 2008 Ford F150 with a 4.6 V-8 supercab and thought we'd be able to basically tow anything. The sales person, when I asked said it would would tow up to 9,000 lbs. Now it can more than handle the pop up and I am very glad, but the actual towing capasity is only 6,500 lbs. Which is considerably lower than 9,000 lbs. When you go to buy an RV the dealers are so sneaky I am so glad I did my homework this time before we had a van payment and no van to drive. BUT I still should've made sure the truck could pull what the salesman said it would.
The message is do your homework. Weigh your rig with all the cargo and add in your passangers weights as well. Make sure your not going overboard in the mountains!:tent:

I think it would be a great addition. I know the first few posts that I had were about towing .
