You need to change the size of the pic in your own photo editing program first I believe ;)

FROM THE F.A.Q AREA:

These small images are called Avatars. They are displayed below your username on all posts that you make. There are two kinds of avatars: those provided by the administrator and those that you upload yourself.

If the administrator has provided a set of avatars, and avatars are enabled, you may select an avatar that best describes your personality.

The administrator may also have enabled custom avatars, which allows you to upload an avatar image from your computer.

For more information about avatars, click here.

The windows picture resizer will let you make the photo as big or small as you want but you have to install the resizer if you don't have it.

You're welcome to email me your photo, I'll resize it for you and send it back.

Send to: waygard33@yahoo.com if you'd like.

Hey James,
I resized the pic and tried to send it back by replying to your email but the mail came back as undeliverable.

Send me another email and I'll try again.

If you use Microsoft Office 2003 or newer, the picture editor will let you resize pics. Open the picture you want and click on edit pictures. Then look for the Change Picture Size, and you'll have two options, Compress or Resize. If you compress first, use the web or e-mail option. Save this as a new file, then close but say "No" to saving. Then open the new file and go to Resize, settings for an Avatar are normally 100 X 100 pixels. Or, there are a few sites out there that will size a picture for you. Try the Avatar Dr, or search for an Avatar program on download.com
Once you have an allowable size the Avatar will upload to your profile. Good Luck

Sorry, forgot to say that your program to open the picture HAS to be set to use MS Picture Editor/Viewer. If you need to, right click on the picture and select "Open with Microsoft Picture Editor" then proceed as I mentioned in the previous post.

For those trying to edit photos, either a full fledged edit or just changing sizes.
You could try using GIMP, it's a free open source program and it's pretty good.
