JC&ME

Hello all!  Just thought I'd introduce myself (and the family) since I've been lurking for a little while and have already learned a lot from the board.

My DH and I bought a new-to-us 1995 Jayco PUP in April.  We live in northern MN and have been tent campers for a while.  After a week in Michigan with three kids (then 6,4, & 2) in a tent, we decided it was time to get off the ground so we could enjoy each other's company a bit more while camping.  Our air mattress bit the dust after serving us loyally for 10 years (which we thought was a true miracle) and we decided to not replace it in hopes of purchasing a camper this season.  My DH has never slept in a PUP, but my parents had one that they used at the cabin as extra sleeping space and I took a couple times to music festivals, so there's our combined expertise.  Luckily, where I lack in my PUP skills, DH excels, which is backing up with it attached to a vehicle.   :D

Last weekend we were able to move the PUP from the middle of the front yard (where it was parked when we got home from buying it) to the back yard last weekend and opened it up.  The ground was too soggy from rain until then to drive it around to the back and now we're itching to take it on a maiden voyage, probably pretty close to home.  Heck, we might just have an overnight in the back yard next weekend just to try it out.

I look forward to sharing our PUP experiences and hopefully can avoid some catastrophies that I have read on the stickied thread!  At least if I lose my keys, I know the first place I will look for them!

Congrats on the n2u PUP! You have a lot of great places to camp in MN.  Welcome from AZ formerly from Mankato, MN.

Enjoy.

WELCOME TO PUT!

I lover Garrison Keillor's description of Minnesota...

"9 months of winter and 3 months of not so good sledding conditions". :eyecrazy:

Just cracks me up.

Welcome from a fellow Minnesotan with a 1995 Jayco ... there will be a group of us at Itasca State Park the last weekend in June.  It's always fun to have new families join us ... let me know if you want more information.

My kids still love Camp Driveway (or backyard) ~ I'm sure yours will too.

Welcome!

If it makes you feel any better about your long Minnesota winters, it got so cold here this past winter, I had to put on a jacket.

Don't listen to 'em, JC&ME.  I'll gladly take a few snowstorms here and there and not have to worry about earthquakes, hurricanes, and 110 degree days. :-()

OK fine, so I'd like to be down south somewhere during Jan/Feb, what of it?  :)

BTW, today is May 14th and we woke up to some light snow on the deck and frozen rain/snow on my car.    That was after we had mid 70's yesterday.  I'm REALLY looking forward to summer.

Welcome!  I'm also looking forward to summer.  We had two nasty snow storms this winter up here in the mountains (3 feet of snow in each storm spaced about three weeks apart) and I'm ready for the warmer weather.  Trouble is though, you can't trust the weather up here until after Father's Day.  Last year, we had snow the Saturday before Memorial Day and about 7-10 years ago, I can't remember exactly, we had 16 inches of snow the second week in June!  The NORBA National mountain bike race was held up here the next day.  What a mess.

Have fun in your new PUP!

That applies more to our fellow campers in the SE states.  I can't imagine having to pack up the bare essentials and leave your abode behind you when they evacuate the area per a pending hurricane.

Enough of me hijacking this thread -- welcome to the forum!  :D
