I do not understand too well, so talk slow.

we bought the camper friday, popped it up in the driveway.
tested it all out dug all through it...
the interior lights worked,  the air conditoner works.
brand new battery (big battery, like a car battery)
now, the lights won't work.
it hasn't moved,  still popped up.  but they don't work.

ideas?? we are camping on friday,  hubby said we'll just get some lamps.
this makes me cry.  no, i don't want lanterns and lamps, we bought it with lights it comes with lights, i want to use the lights.

First thing that comes to mind is how is the battery?  Is it charged?  I would check that first.  Also, your PUP should have a power cord to plug into shore power.  Plug this into your house and see what works.  If the lights come on, then I think it is the battery or a bad wire connection in the battery circuit, usually a bad ground wire (white).  If not, then there is a bad wiring connection somewhere else.  In any case, I would check all of the wiring and make sure the connections are good.  I have found that fresh from the factory PUP's have bad connections and things won't work.

Opps, I almost forgot: check the fuses in the power converter, one may have blown for some reason.

Hope this helps,
Jim

my husband said OK and thanks!!

in daylight he will look at this.
   this is a used camper, it's a 99, coachmen.

brand new battery, we bought it the next morning from when we bought it.  brought it home friday, and put the new battery  in either friday or saturday,  the lights worked then, sooo i dunno.

thank you for the help, and thanks for talking slow enough for me to grasp it lol

I would agree with the previous post, check the battery and the fuses.   I just bout a used PUP and one of the fuses went out.  I have to say it was a pain to figure out which one it was so I ran out and bought some "smart fuses".  When the fuse blows it light up, pretty easy then to figure out which one it is.

I am sure as frustrating as it is to have no lights I am also sure it is a simple easy fix.

Have a great time on your trip.  I am taking my PUP out for the first time also this Friday.

Check the switch on the flip over galley counter. If the galley is flipped down the lights won't work....when the galley is up, the lights work. Find that switch and push it down by hand.....see if the lights come on. If that makes the lights work, you may just have to put a shim on the switch so that the galley will push the switch down farther........That's the problem 90% of the time.

 thank you !!!

the wires that connected TO the new big battery were thin? there's a C shaped double wire, it was thin and didn't make the connection.
I'm all excited now!!
thank you so much for all the help!
i'm ready to go now, we are going to Lake Livingston above houston...

I've had this same problem with ours. There is a cutout switch towards the bed end under the flip over sink that will cut out the power. Sometimes the bedding gets in the way and the sink/galley isn't dropped all the way down. First time out this season after hooking up we had no lights. First place I tried was the sink. (habit)
