Help with my vinyl windows!

My vinyl windows in my pop up are separating from the canvas. A perfectly smooth tear along the stitching. What would you suggest to mend this short of restitching and putting more holes in the windows?

The only things I can think of are:
1) Take the canvas out and have new windows sewn in.  An automotive upholstery shop can do this for you and should be able to purchase both clear and tinted vinyl as it's used in convertible tops (at least the clear is).

2) Add a strip of canvas that you can have sewn to your existing canvas, and is wide enough to be able to sew to an undamaged area of the window.
