I have a 1994 Coleman Destiny Series PU.  I had to drop the guide channel to make a repair and found a large and messy mouse nest.  After I clean everything, what, if any,  lubricant should I use on the whiffle tree?  It's the assembly with the Delrin plastic nut on the drawbar.

tnx,

I just cleaned mine not too long ago, and used brake cleaner to clean off all the old stuff, and the Bearing grease to lubricate everything.

Good luck!

Mike,

I did used the same process as Dkutz.  Here are some pictures.

Hope this helps.

Thanks folks.

Yeah, the first thing I reached for was the brake cleaner.  After removing the layer of gunk, I had to lightly wire brush the threaded rod to remove the nesting material that had wrapped up in the threads.

I was concerned about grease & delrin (though I've used it before) until I found remnants of pink synthetic grease around the nut.  This reinforces your suggestions.  Thanks for the help.

Hopefully we'll get everything back together and adjusted for the VT trip this weekend.

If it ever stops raining.
