I have a 2000 model Taos with the Coleman Mach on top. I am trying to figure out what size generator I need to run this and the microwave, but can't find out how many BTU's it is. All it has on the outside is Coleman Mach.

You will probably need a minimum of 2400W and you won't be able to run both at the same time. If you want to run both at the same time, you're looking at more like 3500-4000W.

You may want to borrow or rent a generator to use for a few hours to test. Not all AC units are created equal and your unit has some age on it. It could draw more or less than it did new. You can't go by the unit's new ratings.

If you test it, be sure to let it run for a couple hours on a hot day. Just because it starts and runs, doesn't necessarily mean that it will continue to cycle after it gets hot.

Depend on which Mach, the specs suggest 1595 watts (standard condition 95F out doors) and 1924 watts (max conditions, 115F outdoors)

The microwave 600-1500 watts (sticker somewhere).

Remember that the Yamaha 2400 is 2400 peak and less continuous (like 2000?). 2000 watt continuous minimum!

The champion 3500/4000 ought to be perfect! :theking:

OK, thanks for the reply. I was hoping I could get away with the Honda or Yamaha 2000.:(

I believe it is 'common knowledge' that the Honda won't run a a/c but the Yamaha 2400 will. That's what I read over and over!
The Honda 2000 is only a 1600 continuous!
AC Output  120V 2000W max. (16.7A) 1600W rated (13.3A)

Some champs have a 30A RV receptacle

of course you could always run two of the hondas....

Since the A/C is a dealer installed option, the sales brochure's states that the dealer will size the A/C unit to the size of the PU.
Since the Taos was one of the smaller Coleman PU's, I would suspect that yours was equipped with the 13,500 BTU unit.
This is just a guess on my part though.

My 2001 Mesa came with the 15,000 BTU unit.

My EF2400IS runs our Carrier AirV just fine. But Ive only used it twice to run it and that was just to see if it would.
