Last year you did not go to Lake Lopez because of the cost and then that weekend you wound-up buying the Trail manor. Now this year you did not go to smithwoods because of the cost (again) and look at what you bought this time ;) So you see that in reality, it would be cheaper for you to come to the sccamper rallies then to stay home and save money..... LOL

PS very nice looking truck :D what size engine and how many miles

See how much $ we save by missing the expensive rallies......:sombraro:

It's a 4.8L V8 (295-hp @ 5,200 rpm - 335 lbs.-ft. @ 4,000 rpm).
It has 60K miles on it but it's been regularly maintained. It was a fleet vehicle and I have the service records. I know the fleet company that owned it (Wheels INC) and they have a reputation for making sure that their fleet vehicles are well maintained. Maintenance is covered (and required) as part of the lease agreement. It was only driven back and forth between LA and PA (10 trips @ 6K per trip) to deliver industrial equipment. It has no trailer hitch on it (which means it wasn't towing anything all those miles). I found a Class IV hitch with factory wiring harness on eBay and I've already purchased a 30K rated trans cooler for it. I also found a factory brake controller harness on eBay for $10.....:)

I have the original window sticker. It says 21MPG hwy and 17MPG city.........wanta bet......:o....My thinking is 12MPG towing.....

Now that we bought this thing, we can't afford to use it......It'll take a couple months of catch-up to get our savings back up to where we feel comfortable.

Anyone wanta buy a great S10 pick-up????? I'd love to sell it to someone I know because it has been meticulously maintained and it's equipped with the best of everything for towing. We've only used it on flat towing but it easily handles grades with the trailer.

Until we sell it, we can't even eat.......:sombraro:

OC Campers

Nice truck Wayne.  Freedom 5 stole my "funny" about the coffin for the Halloween rally.  Or you could dress up like a vampire and roll out and scare everyone:D.

Yeah unfortunately, the full size truck is a bummer when it comes to gas mileage.  We didn't notice too much difference pulling the popup but once the hybrid hitched a ride it went down to 8 or 9:mad:.

I just found my 2nd bummer about this truck. I can't turn the trailer around in the garage to back it in my spot (Heck......I can hardly turn the darn truck around). Now I will have to pull into the garage, unhook the trailer and push it into the spot.

This truck was supposed to reduce my work-load....not increase it......:o

Wayne, with our truck we get 16-18 mpg with or without the pup, same motor. I did install a Fram cold air intake and then I used a Hypertech III to chip the CPU and that I believe made the differance.

Again, Congrats on the TV

Congrats Wayne, happy towing. You will enjoy the bigger truck, once you can afford it...:):-()There is a bigger feeling of security on the road, at least we feel that way.  Hope it works out well for you.

If any of you pick-up guys find the bedslide interesting. It's available from Costco for $550:

I thought that it would cost 3X that much...
