We are approaching my favorite time of the year. This is when the serious camping starts for us. I know I know my friends in the north have to prepare for the freezing temps and snow and I feel for you I really do, but man for this southern boy this is really the beginning of the camping season for us. We'll hit it hot and heavy from October thru the end of June.

I am pumped.

We live in PA and usually camp at the DE shore; I have to say that as much as I love the 'beach culture', I am glad for the cooler fall temperatures.  I can set up and not sweat through 3 shirts; I can spend a day on the beach (in full sun) and remain cool despite wearing a t-shirt and big hat to protect from sunburn.  The changing colors of the leaves and the migrating birds are a plus too.  We have a furnace in our PUP; now till mid November is a nice contrast to the 'shore season' of mid-May till the end of August, though I have to say that I miss having my home garden's lettuce and tomatoes after about October 15!  Enjoy the fall, everyone!

Its my favorite time of year to camp too!!!  :)

If you're smelling a combination of cold PBRs and lighter fluid then that'd be the start of football tailgating season (slight variation:  in TX and MS it's cold PBRs and AquaNet hairspray)  :D

oops, that's supposed to be "you're" in the title, I just can't type tonight

This past weekend I sure wish we had been camping.  Perfect weather.  Overcast with an occasional  sprinkle and 75 degrees.  For Northern California it should still be in the mid 90's/  But soccer has started so we can only camp here and there till the middle of November.

We got trips planned thru November right now -- after that it's too cold and wet for us fair weathered campers.  The best one is DW and me all alone for two days on the American River next weekend.  We may not come back home.  So, . . .. could someone take our kids?

Well I thought our camping season in Ohio was coming to and end soon til Spring.  I lined the bunkends with Reflectix  and nice and toasty now in the PUP.  We even had to turn down the heater during the night last weeknd.  I am planning a few more fall trips for the 09  season now..............

This is our favorite time to camp as well...we have three more trips planned; a weekend in Indiana next week, a week on Kentucky Lake in October and then a camping Thanksgiving in Kentucky if the weather allows.  It has been such a cool summer we even had to turn on our furnace to take the chill off the camper on July 4th while camping at Brookville Lake in Indiana.

That sure was a nice flip in the weather we had here in Sac! We even had a bit of rain for my kids opening day of soccer Saturday! First time I can remember that happening. What soccer club do your kids play for?

I love to camp in the fall too but we'll have to wait till Oct for it to start around here except we had one day this week when our weather turned down the heat and we had to throw on a light sweater and boy it felt soooooooo good.  Now for ya all in PA it still would have felt hot but to us it was sweater weather!:D
Love walking through the fall leaves and smelling the fireplaces and camping in the misty mornings nothing better can't wait......However not this weekend we're heading for the beach and want the warm days to stay and have a good time playing in the surf........The weather gods are calling for perfect beach weather and we're outta here on Thursday......:-()

My 2 boys play rec soccer with Rocklin Youth Soccer.

Hey Kona12, if you check out the Norcal forum at the bottom of the forum page we have a couple of Nor Cal rally's planned.  One is next weekend at Collins Lake and another in October at 49er Village in Plymouth.  Would enjoy meeting another Nor Cal camper.

We just got back yesterday from a week of camping in the north Georgia mountains. The weather was perfect  all week except for the last day and night when it rained, sometimes really hard and causing some local flooding. Otherwise, fall is in the air with days in the seventies-low eighties and cool evenings. We slept with all the windows in the trailer wide open and under two blankets...really great sleeping.
The leaves are already showing color up there and the old timers are saying its going to be an early fall and cold winter..we shall see.
Here at home in North Carolina, our trees, oak and pecan, are dropping leaves early and fast. Our front yard and driveway is covered now, much earlier than usual. Perhaps we will have a long fall this year before the cold sets in. I hope so..
